Computer issues resolved, work to resume

Well, After lots of arguing with microsoft I managed to get my Vista returned. Now I have XP – and it’s good to be back. Unfortunately I was having problems setting up the VMbox on linux mint, so I decided to just stick with XP for everything. Until those compatability issues are fixed, Game Maker, PhotoShop, and my games keep me using windows. :(

But on a lighter note, I spent alot of today re-installing and registering my programs. Hopefully next weekend I’ll find a large chunk of time to work on Bleare Kingdoms with. Progress Resumes!

New Computer – Game to be programmed in linux

Hello everyone – here’s the reason for a possible slowdown in dev time.

Just bought my new computer (the parts, yet to arrive, from newegg):

$ 741 total:

4 Gigs of Ram
AMD Phenom 9950 black edition Quad Core Processor @ 2.6 ghz
NVIDIA 9800 GTX video card (huge and beastly)
250 gig internal hard drive
Antec 900 case with pretty blue lights
ASUS M3A78-CM motherboard
750w corsair power supply

The parts should come to my place in a few days, then I’m building it. Wish me luck!

Will do a dual boot of vista/ubuntu. Vista for my games, ubuntu for everything else (I’ll have an XP VM just for CS3 on ubuntu. ;) )

So yes, Bleare Kingdoms will be programmed in linux, and should have full windows and linux compatibility.

However the next week or so will be converting the code and such to work in linux. Hopefully this goes well, it could be very easy or very hard. I’ll post an update later in a new post.

Easy Email Subscribing added!

I lied about the whole “I’m coding it” thing. Turns out a cool service called feedburner does it for you. So yeah, super easy subscription. Just click the link on the right where it says Subscribe via email or something like that, and type in your email. Then you get updates!
I’m so happy – you should be too. Subscribe now and forget about checking for updates!

New email notification thingy coming soon, hopefully.

So… I want people to be able to sign up for email notification on this blog. There are some nice plugins out there that do this, but you have to download them and get them online with the use of some php programming and who knows what else. I don’t have time for this – I need to be coding the game, not figuring out how to run this site.

So I’ll be coding my own, and I’ll run it from my pc. It’ll generate a list of email subscribers, and upon my command, will send them an email of a new post. yay. Once I’m done I’ll post again and I’ll have a “subscribe” linky here. It’ll be a bit more complicated than normal, you’ll actually have to email something that will take your email into the code system. Don’t worry, I’ll figure it out. G’day.
